OFFSITE - Beyond the Library presents: A Star Party for Adults

Tuesday, November 126:30—8:30 PMOffsite Location

**OFFSITE LOCATION - Lincoln Field 1, Lincoln Park, 100 Lincoln St, Lexington

**This event is weather dependent. Rain date: December 9.

The stars are out! Join our friends from the Amateur Telescope Makers of Boston (ATMoB) for a brief lecture on what's currently in the night sky, and then we will have a chance to look through their telescopes.

To allow for the best viewing of the night sky, please bring a small flashlight. Any flashlights should be low-power and covered with a dark-red filter (a couple layers of red cellophane will work). Please do not use LED lights on headbands or flashlight apps on smartphones (unless the app allows the color of the light to be made dark red).

Registration is required. You will receive a confirmation email upon registering for this event. If you are unable to attend, please cancel via that email so that someone on the waiting list can attend. You can also email caryprograms@minlib.net for assistance.

A star party is a gathering of amateur astronomers who set up their telescopes or other observing equipment so attendees can view the night sky. It is a great way to see things that you normally can't see without a telescope. During a typical start party you may view the planets, stars, galaxies and other heavenly bodies.

Interested in viewing the stars on your own? You can borrow a telescope from Cary Library of Things. The telescope is made available through the Aldrich Astronomical Society's Adopt-A-Library program.

"Beyond the Library" is sponsored by the Friends of Cary Library.

Registration for this event has now closed.
