The 90-minute film shares the story of Stephen Hopkins, the only Mayflower passenger who had been to North America previously. A decade earlier, Hopkins was aboard a ship bound for Jamestown when it wrecked on Bermuda, providing inspiration for Shakespeare’s play, The Tempest. Shot-on-location, the Hit and Run History crew retrace Hopkin’s life crisscrossing the Atlantic and examine the stories that Hopkins may have been the model for the drunken and mutinous Stephano in Shakespeare’s play. Hit and Run History explores the fascinating story of a man whose life intersected with Colonial American history and Native American figures.
