VIRTUAL - Our Wonderful Birds with Bill Gette
Friday, February 201:00—2:00 PMVirtual
Bill Gette, Founding Director of Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats Education Center and Past President of the Friends of Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, has been birding since 1961. During that time, he has not only been thrilled by the beauty of birds but has also been amazed by their diversity. Birds have the greatest diversity in form and behavior of any group of terrestrial vertebrates – they’re an exciting group of animals.
During his PowerPoint presentation, Bill will show you his beautiful photographs to illustrate the diversity in avian feeding techniques, mating systems, migration feats, tool use, food storage, brood parasitism, nest building, and plumage coloration. Did you know that in the fall Bar-tailed Godwits migrate over 8,000 miles nonstop? Did you know that Oilbirds feed at night and use echolocation - like a bat - to navigate and find food? Join us to learn about these wonderful facts, and more!
Registration is required.
