LNPs. Lipid nanoparticles. Heard of them ? They are the reason the Moderna and Pfizer COVID vaccines were developed so quickly and able to stem the tide of COVID worldwide. LNPs and the whole field of nanotechnology are revolutionizing how we deliver medicines to patients. Robert Langer, Institute Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is a pioneer and leading innovator in this field of nanomedicine and drug delivery. Not only has his research developed remarkable breakthroughs, his patents have been licensed or sub-licensed by over 400 companies. He has also cofounded many companies including Moderna. Join us for our next Science Café as we chat with Prof. Langer and discuss his early influences, his career path and what's next for the field of nanomedicine.

Robert Langer is one of 8 Institute Professors at MIT; being an Institute Professor is MIT’s highest honor. His articles have been cited over 420,000 times; his h-index of 321 is the highest of any engineer in history. His patents have licensed or sublicensed to over 400 companies; he is a cofounder of many companies including Moderna. He holds 42 honorary doctorates and has received over 220 awards, including both the United States National Medals of Science and Technology & Innovation (one of 3 living individuals to have received both honors), and has been elected to the National Academies of Medicine, Engineering, Sciences, and Inventors.

This is a hybrid program - you can attend in person or watch via Zoom. If you are attending via Zoom, please register to receive the Zoom link.  In person attendance is on a first-come basis.
