A Sweet and Savory Celebration of Holi
Tuesday, April 57:00—8:00 PMVirtual
Join Cary Library and Supriya Danda for a celebration of Holi. Holi is a colorful Hindu festival that originated in India to celebrate the end of winter and herald the beginning of spring. The central ritual of Holi, the Festival of Colors” is community gathering and bonding over spraying with colored powder or with a water gun (pichkari) filled with colored water, along with a lot of singing and dancing. Families and neighbors gather on the eve of Holi to create a bonfire (holika dahan) that is symbolic of victory of good over evil. Interestingly, every region has something unique to offer and when it comes to Holi, what unites people is undeniably good food. Supriya will demonstrate how to make delicious, sweet and savory combos which can be made at home.
