OFFSITE - Keys to Living Well with Parkinson’s Disease
Friday, August 231:00—2:00 PMOffsite Location
**OFFSITE LOCATION** This program will be presented at the Community Center - Room 237, 39 Marrett Rd, Lexington.
One of the keys to living well with Parkinson’s disease is to exercise and to avoid falls. This talk will focus on evidence-based updates and expert recommendations regarding exercise, balance and fall prevention for people with Parkinson's and other movement disorders. Exercise is particularly important as it may help to slow down disease progression, as well to improve motor function. The talk will be given by Sarah Bell and Kelly Hussey, who have been outpatient physical therapists at MGH for over 15 years, now working as senior PTs at MGH-West in Waltham. They both obtained their certification in Neurologic Physical Therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) in 2015. After working with patients with PD and other neurologic disorders for several years, they both became LSVT-BIG certified, and Sarah has also received certification for Parkinson's Wellness Recovery training.
Presented in collaboration with Lexington Human Services, MGH-West, and Supportive Living, Inc. a non-profit health care organization.
This program is made possible by the generous donor to the Cary Library Foundation.
