Artist Talk- Morning Market: The Work of Women Exhibit

Join us for a presentation from artist Lori Lander about her paintings, her process and her inspiration.  Her oil paintings portray the daily rhythms of women across the world in working in morning markets. They are based on travels to more than 65 countries over the past 40+ years.

Lori is an artist, community organizer and civic engagement leader. Her paintings depict and celebrate the daily rhythms and rituals of women at work throughout the world - in markets, fields and festivals. Since 2010, Lori has hosted regular breakfast gatherings of 50+ people (mainly but not only women) to discuss racial and social justice issues. Since 2023, the breakfasts have been in person and on Zoom. Lori co-founded and co-directs Many Helping Hands 365, a civic engagement non-profit, that organizes the annual Cambridge Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service and Learning, involving 2000+ volunteers young and old, reflecting the diversity of Cambridge and nearby communities. Lori has lived in Cambridge with her husband Eric since 1981. They have three adult children – Jessica, Daniel and David.
