**Please bring a fully charged laptop to class. We have found that both tablets and mobile phones are not conducive to the hands-on work we will be doing.

This is designed for people who are curious about AI but haven't yet explored tools like ChatGPT or Gemini, or tried them once and weren't sure what to do next. You'll get comfortable with the basics of generative AI through friendly, hands-on practice that builds genuine confidence.

In this introductory session, you'll move from "What is this?" to "I can actually use this!" by exploring multiple popular AI platforms like ChatGPT and Gemini and discovering what they can do for your real life. No prior AI experience needed, just bring your curiosity and a willingness to experiment.

You'll learn:

  • What generative AI actually is and how it differs from other technologies you use daily
  •  How to open FREE accounts and navigate ChatGPT, Gemini, and other popular AI chatbots
  • Basic prompting techniques that get you useful responses instead of confusing ones
  • Features and capabilities including working with text, images, and voice across different platforms
  • Quick wins for everyday tasks like drafting emails, travel planning, meal planning, brainstorming ideas, and answers to questions

Your outcome: You'll leave with the know-how to start conversations with AI tools and several practical prompts you can use immediately for tasks you actually need to do.

This program is made possible by the generous donors to the Cary Library Foundation.
