OFFSITE -Visible Mending Workshop - Patching and Darning (Adult Workshop)

Wednesday, April 166:30—8:30 PMOffsite Location

**OFFSITE LOCATION** This program will be presented at the Munroe Art Center, 1403 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington

Do you have any clothing that has rips, pesky stains or holes that you’d like to mend? Join Mariko Sugimori (www.MonaZoeMending.com) for an introduction to visible mending where you’ll learn creative techniques—including patching and darning—to give your well-loved clothing a new life!

People of all skill levels are welcome to this course. All the mending supplies you need to get started will be provided.  You are also welcome to bring any items of clothing that are in need of mending, but that’s not required.

My hope is that after this class, you can take these newly acquired skills to curate a more sustainable wardrobe by increasing the life of your clothing and keeping it out of the landfill.

Registration is required. Spaces are limited.

About our instructor:

Mariko, Instagram @Mona_and_Zoe, started her love of fiber arts as a child sewing doll clothes on her mom’s vintage Singer sewing machine and learning to knit at her local yarn store. Her creative visible mending journey is in large part inspired and influenced by her Japanese father’s concept of Mottainai, which roughly translates to “what a waste.” It’s a phrase commonly used to express regret of throwing something away when it still holds value.

This program is made possible by the generous donors to the Cary Library Foundation and in partnership with the Munroe Center for the Arts and LexZeroWaste.

Registration for this event opens Monday, March 3 at 9:00 AM.
