VIRTUAL - iPhone Photography Tips & Tricks Session 1

Wednesday, March 207:30—9:00 PMVirtual

In this class, you’ll learn the basics of using your iPhone camera as well as many “hidden” features that you may not be aware of. We’ll also cover some basic photo organizing and editing techniques using the built-in iPhone tools. You will be given picture-taking, organizing, and editing challenges to practice your new skills. The first half of the second two sessions will be devoted to reviewing participant's work and addressing issues that came up while working on the challenges.

Registration is required. This program will not be recorded.

Session 1 - March 20

In the first session, we will cover the basics of using your iPhone camera more skillfully, including checking camera settings, learing how to set and check focus and exposure, and exploring ways to create more effective compositions. Be sure to connect to the Zoom on a computer or other device so that your phone is available to try out techniques during the session. At the end of session 1, you will be given an assignment to complete prior to the second session.

Session 2 - April 3

The second session will begin with guidance on how to analyze a photograph. Once we establish a common ground for talking about our images, we will review a subset of the images submitted from the first assignment. Students will have an opportunity to bring up any issues they encountered completing the assignment. In the second half of the session, we'll cover tips for organizing photos and take a quick look at some basic image editing features available on the phone. You will receive a second assignment at the end of the session.

Session 3 - April 17

The third session will start with an image review of photos taken for the second assignment. After discussing any issues or challenges, we will cover several more advanced camera features.
