VIRTUAL - LexSeeHer Speaker Series welcomes Ellen Cassedy, Founder of the 9 to 5 Movement
Thursday, March 307:00—8:00 PMVirtual
LexSeeHer continues celebrating Women’s History Month with special guest, author, and labor organizer, Ellen Cassedy. Ellen was a founder of the 9 to 5 organization of women office workers that began in Boston fifty years ago. 9 to 5 won millions of dollars in back pay and raises, started a woman-led union, inspired the Hollywood hit movie and Dolly Parton’s song, and made countless bosses get their own coffee.
Working 9 to 5 is a first-person account of this exciting movement. Liz Shuler, the president of the AFL-CIO, calls the book “a must-read for any activist or reader in search of inspiration,” and historian Lane Windham calls it “exactly the right book at the right time.”
